Tryouts - Player Placement Process 2020/2021

BIFC would like to get you up to speed on “how” we are going to implement the Player Placement program in lieu of physical tryouts due to Covid-19.  The state established a policy for clubs that allows each club flexibility in the implementation based on what club leadership feels is best for their membership. At BIFC, we will establish teams where appropriate, or we will generate player pools. Once we are able to have on field practices, we will go through the process for specific team placement as we expect there to be some movement.  Below is what to expect over the next few weeks.

THE PROCESS

  1. Player placement will begin on May 1stfor all returning BIFC players.

  2. Every player registered in the BIFC Select program for the 2019/2020 season will be welcomed back into the program, providing we have a viable team for them. This will be subject to player numbers and in some age groups being able to form multiple teams.

  3. Based on historical knowledge we may choose to assign players immediately to teams if the numbers and player knowledge make sense to do so.  This will only happen were we are creating one team in an age group.  Based on the number of players registered at this time here is what we expect:

Boys 2010 – a player pool from which two teams (A and B) will be formed via on field practices

    Boys 2009
    – a player pool from which two teams (A and B) will be formed via on field practices

    Boys 2008
    – a player pool from which three teams will be formed, note that this year these will be an A, B and C teams, not A and
    two even teams.

    Boys 2007
    – one team will be assigned based on historical knowledge.2007 aged players may make this team or be selected to the
    2006 white team if viable.

    Boys 2006
    – a player pool from which two teams (A and B) will be formed via on field practices

    Girls 2010
    – one team will be assigned based on historical knowledge

    Girls 2009
    – one team will be assigned based on historical knowledge

    Girls 2008
    – one team will be assigned based on historical knowledge

    Girls 2007
    - a player pool from which one or two teams will be formed via on field practices. We will guarantee returning players a spot if we are able to retain two teams (A and B) in the age group.

    Girls 2006
    - one team will be assigned based on historical knowledge

    Girls 2005
    - one team will be assigned based on historical knowledge

Girls 2002-2004 - one team will be assigned based on historical knowledge

  1. Once we are allowed back on the field in a typical fashion, we will have the remaining age groups to have trainings to evaluate  ALL players in the player pool which will determine final roster placement.

  2. There will be no fees due until such time as we are able to get back on the field. The Select soccer annual costs can be viewed here, However, please note that if Select Soccer does not start on 1stJune then these costs will be adjusted downwards. In addition, should later re-emergence of Covid-19 force us to cancel some portion of the season, BIFC will provide a pro-rate refund, taking into account overhead and other non-recoverable expenses.

  3. If you are a new player to BIFC, or new to our Select program then we will evaluate your suitability for team placement as soon as we are able to get on the field.

  4. We have moved to a new registration system and you will need to set up a new account if this is the first time you have logged onto the system.
