Cookie Dough/Café Oro Fundraiser

2019 Cookie Dough/Café Oro Coffee Fundraiser

Thank you to all our members for your fundraising work with the 2018 cookie dough/coffee sales. Total gross amount we raised was $15,000, which 50% of it was designated to scholarships and field maintenance/equipment.

For 2019 Cookie Dough and Coffee (Cafe Oro) fundraising, we are asking each player to set a goal of selling 3 containers of cookie dough and 3 bags of coffee. One great way to help you sell cookie dough/coffee is to let your customers know the cookie dough can be frozen and then used during the holidays, and coffee is packed in a gold-foil bag, which makes for a great holiday gift.

The cookie dough vendor, Cougar Mountain Baking Company, has eight flavors: Chocolate Chunk, Double Chocolate Hazelnut, Molasses-Ginger, Lemon Cheesecake, Sugar, Oatmeal Raisin, Peanut Butter and Pumpkin.

Café Oro
As some of you may be aware this is a difficult time for our friends on our sister island, Ometepe, in Nicaragua. There has been significant civil unrest for many months now and while the larger cities have been most affected, Ometepe has been impacted as well. On a day to day level the political problems have led to skyrocketing fuel prices and rationing of food at some markets as well as loss of many jobs in the tourist sector. Traveling off the island is difficult due to reduced ferry schedule and road blocks.

In light of the unrest the Bainbridge Ometepe Sister Island Assoc., BOSIA, made the decisions to evacuate our office volunteer and cancel our 2018 student delegation. Nevertheless, our mission remains the same: to tend and strengthen the relationships between Ometepinos and Bainbridge Islanders. At this time we feel it is all the more important that we continue to support our friends on Ometepe by continuing our many ongoing projects. By buying Cafe Oro through the BIFC program you will be supporting the work of local health clinics, Nicaraguan Sign Language Workshops, supplying text books to classrooms and libraries, supporting a psychologist to educate and support people impacted by domestic violence as well as supporting many many other much needed projects.
Thank you for your support,
Bainbridge Ometepe Sister Island Board of Trustees
